INITIATIVES
Hunting
Traditional hunting (using a mixture of traditional and modern techniques) is practised with fish (including freshwater barramundi), goanna, emu, kangaroo and plains turkey on the menu as well as feral pig and beef ‘killer’.
Bush Days
On Bush Days, students learn about their skin groups, local bush medicine, bush tucker and some traditional stories are shared.
Relationships
Kulkarriya Community School has developed a relationship with Lauriston Girls School in Melbourne, and St Patricks College in Brisbane. Students and teachers visit Noonkanbah each year and are involved in all school activities. Kulkarriya also sends students to Melbourne and Brisbane to visit. The relationships are a significant cross-cultural initiative and a meaningful relationship has developed between both schools, their students and teachers.
